2015 Tres Perlas Chardonnay
We carefully field-sorted whole clusters before whole cluster pressing and allowing to cold settle in tank. Both primary and secondary fermentations occurred in 25% new French oak barrels with batonage, or gentle lees stirring, employed early on to encourage roundness and length in the mid-palate. Including only our most impressive select barrels in the final blend, the finished wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered after 18 months of aging sur lees.
Brown Ranch is our family's estate vineyard and our jewel in the Los Carneros AVA. The cool breezes, rolling hills, and clay loam soils (with limestone deposits) produce a vineyard parcel that is perfectly suited for growing Chardonnay. We utilize bilateral cordon and vertical shoot positioning for trellis management and yields and cull much of the crop to produce richly concentrated wines.
